Dont' worry we have the same problems with Texans in Princes Street in Edinburgh in the summer.

Be thankful they were wearing dark burkas -- we have to contend with bright garish "plaid" and golf trousers !!!!!!

Seriously though ... so does every group of friends talking whilst walking along a street and walking slower than you bother you ? Or is their a "bias" present .......

I pretty much hate everyone in my way. Middle aged white women, especially.

Did he say they walked slowly because of there religion? No.

If anyone was seen carrying big crucifixes I'm sure anyone would mention it, doesn't happen alot.

People who get in your way annoy you regardless of religion.

    Exactly.

Why mention it in the first place?

    It doesn't.

No, because it's a thread about muslims. And the "big burkas" was to illustrate that it made them about 3-4 feet wide, couple that with the fact that the edges of each burka were 2-3 feet apart and now you have a 13-18 foot wall of muslim women who actually weren't even talking to eachother (matra). It was strange.

    Would you have been annoyed?
    Yes.

No other groups of friends were walking this slow...you had to be there, it was almost a crawl.

I fail to understand your conclusion based on the article that you quote. We did not "breed" Ayaan, she developed her own personality. After having come to Holland she first joined the leftist socialist party, but was then convinced that she could realise her ideals much better in the right wing conservative party (which call themselves liberals in Holland ) where she continued to develop her philosophy. Her clash with the liberal minister for immigration was less her fault than that of the minister. Anyway, she has now joined a rather conservative US think tank, (I always find it ironic to see the words "conservative" and "think" put together in that way ). The only thing immoral I can see is joining such a tank

I'll explain some things about this. I must say the article could have mentioned Hirsi's real name, by the way.

The problems we've had here have been there in many European nations. The growing voice of the Islam/Muslims and the growing intolerance by the people.

The murder of the Dutch Anti-Islam Politician Pim Fortuijn and the murder on Theo van Gogh were the most extreme cases. Pim Fortuijn was murdered by an environmentalist though.

The Dutch have been known for their tolerance throuhout history, but also for their strong opinions. This caused some interesting situations, see April 1st. In the last 5 years, the people were sick of it though. The political situation was completely turned upside down and the formerly integer politicians started to become media-horny Hirsi Ali found her place in this chaos.

The growing hatred is fueled by these situations. It is very deep inside most people. When you get to know them better, you found out most Dutch have these feeling hidden deeply. When I say I am a foreigner-by-law myself they are very shocked. It gives some very interesting debates. The bus-stop debates with my racist ex-friends are infamous in our town

These things are one of the reasons I want to finish my studies and take off to somewhere abroad. i was thinking France or Germany, they are still a bit closer to my family, but completely different. Maybe Switserland, but there are little jobs there for people with my education

I can't help but say something about this. It seems, every time you start talking about the dutch, you HAVE to mentioin the fact that you are not "legally" dutch. And seem to make it sound like you have been persecuted for it. Quit trying to play yourself off as a victim of your own society, i find it very annoying and immature. Sh!t happens get over it, and if you don't like it come to america; sounds like you love us!

Where are you from legally? Move back there, or move to somewhere else, hell i don't care just stop mentioning the fact that you go thorugh hell when you tell people you aren't dutch. That's like a black, gay, jew, going to a KKK meeting, it really doesn't make sense. If you don't like the reaction you get when you tell people you aren't dutch, THEN QUIT TELLING THEM!!!! It seems as though they are fooled anyways. Here's a happy face to make you smile.

Thanks, but if I had called it that, few non-english native speaking people would have immediately understood......

All we here in this thread how bad the Dutch are and how much we hate Muslims... I feel very much insulted since most of my friends are muslims. And I do very much hate any kind of discrimination against any nationality or religion. If you look at the case of Hirsi Ali you see that she already lied about her history. And a part of the threats on her adress were made by Muslims.

I do think the Dutch governement has made some serious mistakes. How on earth can somebody who is in the Dutch parlemaint be there whilst she lied about her history.

And please don't you all think that all Dutch hate foreigners because they don't. I think that in some bigger cities (Amsterdam and Rotterdam mostly) there have been and still are problems with different nationalities which leads to the hate of those people. But in the city where I live I can't say there are any of those problems. In my street for an example, there is a Turkish shop next to a dutch supermarket. What's the best of it: in their break many of the dutch employees go to the Turkish man to have some great food.

A block away there is a Turkish snackbar. They sell pizza's and döner kebap. And what I like the most of it. The guys are great. We go there reguraly with our team to have some food and the owners always come up with a friendly price. Plus most of the guests who come there every day like to see us there. We are always friendly and we love to play some cards with them. And probably the coolest about all this: it's always full with policemen who are enjoying some meals. It's probably my most favourite place in this part of the city.

As a matter of fact, I think I'm heading there right now

Joris, it's a joke from Rockefella, hitting back at drakkie's threads about the US infidels... has no one here got a sense of irony?

I think quite a few of us knew it was a joke... your opinion shows that some American members (Rocke I suspect to be among those) may get angry when drakkie posts threads that show a generic view of his country in a negative light.

I don't make my opinions from widespread coverage about one person's misdemeanours, I make them from individual experience... something we should all do, methinks!
