    Article

I'm wondering if anyone remembers what magazine or has the article for this.

In a big American magazine maybe a year to two years ago there was an article where they gave 12 teams $25,000 each and let them come up with cars using only ebay parts...? I think it was motortrend? Any help would be great, especially a scan of the article.

If it's any help, it's not MotorTrend, unless I'm mistaken. I think I've read all of the MotorTrends from the past 24 months or so though.

It might be Car&Driver.. if I had to offer a guess.

Thanks...I wish I could at least remember the magazine, that would narrow it down considerably...

I remember that coming up too. Something tells me that the article is more than 2 years old. Motortrend might have had something to do with it because they made a super Golf from a modded Golf with 4WD from an Audi A4. The concept based on a super R32 Golf that was modified by a company that escapes my mind.

I remember them selling it on EBay afterwards to benefit some organization.

    I could be wrong though.

Maybe that's the one you were referring to, MyPorsche?

Edit- Wow, Mr. Tiv, you're fast.

Nah, I'm happy with my truck, and also not a fan of that body style golf except for the R32.

Just curious to see what they did, and how they built a sweet fast golf for $25,000.

And also I'm saving for my Audi RS5.

Your future RS5 can dust an R32 any day any time. No point in researching it.

Well, they're expected to come out in 2009. In 2016, I get a huge insurance break, because I will be turning 25, and my rates will go down. So in 2016 I could get (assuming today's prices and depreciation) roughly a 2012 RS5 for pretty good money, and not get killed on insurance. I'm thinking long term here, not necessarily as soon as they come out.

When you turn 25 insurance rates go down comprehensively.

Very long term. but hey, if I can get one for $35,000 in 10 years then thats only $3,500 to save up a year for 10 years, once i get a full time job that's not all that hard.

Tom, that's because the USA is clearly superior.
