Its probably just seen as the next step forwards. If microsoft can dominate the console market, they already hold the key (DirectX) to the vast majority of new release PC games. If they can combine xbox and windows players together in the multiplayer community, successfully, then mr gates is yet again in the big bucks. It was inevitable really. But most devoted pc online gamers, including myself, will consider it unecessary. It does provide an uneven battle-ground. But the fun factor is there if a group of friends can play the same game against eachother if they have a pc or a 360. Atleast thats what microsoft would argue. The unspoken rule is that whoever runs the pc will have to either buy a new system or vista to play it. Isnt it easier to just buy a 360 if your a casual gamer? We'll wait and see i guess.
