    Factor in Three things.

Resale Value - A Kappa would be cheaper to purchase - with the obvious knock on effect come sale time.

Quality - Lancia are generally considered to be some of the best Italian cars these days, but there reputation was well earned. It's going to be a Mixed bag.

And finally design. The Kappa looks like a moose compared to the considered, crafted A4.

However both are still severly pounded by the E36 for one simple fact - RWD.

And may I add, the straight six engine.

But for being different the Kappa still does the job very well. I'd consider it.

If we were looking at points of difference I'd recommend the Volvo 850 Wagon

The Kappa is a nice car. I LOVE the coupé, but I'm worried about reliability.

I must add that the A4 is on my list, but it's very low on my list. It's an Audi..

I've been looking at Volvo 850's this moment. VERY low prices. Thanks for the suggestion.

I personally have a soft spot for the Coupé, but the estate isn't bad.

Lagonda, how about Alfa 156 Sportwagon? In comparison with your current car 156 SW is pretty practical and it is about in the same price range. Also, 156 is a fairly modern car compared to other suggestions here.

Of course, the maintenance bills will be much more expensive than for Clio and the owenership of any Italian car could be very...(how should I put it)....adventurous? Then again, it also can be very rewarding.

Imagine this, Lancia Kappa Coupe with the badge taken out, manufactured in China, with some chinese esque name "Fung Xiao Lai", of which the badge is an upside down merc logo with BMW's propeller background.

can you still find your softspot?

I will agree that it is not beautiful (in fact Lancia was pretty severely affected by having to use a SWB chasis and by the desire of Cantarella to kill Lancia completely) but it certainly is the last of a line. A line the comprises the Aurelia B20 GT, the Flaminia PF and the Gamma Coupe. And that's something.

I do believe and will love to see a brand like Lancia coming out with distinctive designs and an attention to detail in cars. But their current line up just doesn't cut it. No matter how much bullshit the website claims - distinctive, innovative, cutting edge whatever and worst of all Musa a limousine?

I have to agree (except for the Thesis, which anyway it's almost disappeared).

But nothing can be done and I doubt much will change in short and mid term.

We used to have a 1993 BMW 325is coupe which we bought brand new. Ran with no problems until it was unfortunately totaled in a bad accident on the interstate in 2001 with 140,000 miles on it

    ouch ... i'm tricked. . . anyway .. i guessed you got my point.

I'd just hope that Lancia could make use of current new platforms from Alfa, and re-make the 037 to replace the AR GT Coupe (which is pointless); or create the Delta Integrale.

Two cars will be enough to make an impression. A strong one.
