There is quite a bit done to it, but nothing "ridiculous". And even if there was a ton done to it, I don't see that as a bad thing (as long as it still looks good).

EDIT: By "touchups" I mean removing an ugly yellow reflection off the driver's side of the car and removing a magazine from the dash (the guy who owns it owns the magazine company). By "overlays" I mean some black gradient layers set to "overlay" to increase contrast in specific areas and such.

You must hate practically all the press release photos for new cars, as essentially all of them undergo the same type of editing as pat's shot.

Take for example the attached shot. The "digital darkroom" is a part of modern photography, and that's why I like allowing it in competitions.

i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.

I agree with everything you said, however, that shot has gone through a hell of a lot more than mine.

IMHO, this is about making an image the way you find it the most beautifull. Editting a picture often makes it a nicer image. You can play just much with an image afterwards as you can when you took it imo.
This is not about retaining the most data or documenting.

and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I just mentioned that I found Pat's picture "unreal". The next step will be allowing pictures of real paintings in the competition....

Dude, this is the 100% untouched, straight off the camera JPEG (which I only use to browse through the RAWs quickly). All I did is crop and resize so that it's more of a direct comparison. Just because it looks "unreal" to you doesn't mean it isn't real.

Mr. dude for you. Compare the two pics and you see what I mean...
