    Corvette ZR1 Nurburgring video

YouTube - ZR1 Nurburgring Official 7:26.4 Record Corvette Run

From the wheel movement and car movements the ZR1 looks to be far more stable and composed than both the Zonda and GTR (low and high speed). I guess thats proof that the much hyped about Magnaride suspension works. Even with the headwind its also interesting to note that the 638hp ZR1 was only able to reach 179mph on the long straight, whereas the 480hp GTR reached 180mph.

    Times:
    ZR1: 7.05
    GTR: 7.18

    Time to run back stretch:
ZR1: 29 seconds (ZR1 reaches near 180mph and holds back)
    GTR: 30 seconds

I personally think it is LUDICROUS to think the ZR1 could only put 1 second on the GTR through this contest of flat out acceleration EVEN if the GTR had carried more speed into the straight. Hell, even a "measly" 505HP Z06 has been shown to put atleast that much distance on a GTR from 0-120mph.

It looks like the GTR was doctored with A LOT more boost even if the tires weren't doctored.

I would say that with a better driver *cough* C6R driver *cough* they would have a far better time, at times I feel that Jim Mero was taking some very conservative lines. It's also funny watching him throw his hands up in the air when he does something wrong like taking a very wide line or hitting the limiter.

The GT-R fans don't want to talk about it anymore, wonder why!

I should probably qualify my statement. I like the GTR. I think its good look, and impressive ability for what it is. I'm just having a big of fun after it was SO hyped up, and now its a normal car and people are like "it was overhyped? No wai! Uhhh lets talk about something else! >.>;;" Oopsies! Well that's what happens.

It is boring, deeply cynical cock waving. Any enjoyment that could be had discussing relative performances and characteristics has been pissed on for the sake of a few egos who'd rather grief the topic.
    IMO.

What in the bloody hell are you on about?
Tests have the GTR outperforming a 911 Turbo and excelling at every motoring discipline for a price few cars can match all the while offering 4 seats and relative comfort.

    "taking conservative lines" - ROFLMAO
He's about as aggresive as you can get in any car !!
Quite noticable a lot of understeer,
LOTS of steering wheel input at speed until it bites - typical large rear rubber effect
Wonder what state his fronts were in at teh end -- THAT woudl tell about the Magnaride.
    Looks good, sounds good

Awesome. I agree with Matra about the understeer but not bad for a stock(?) car on stock(??) tyres. I also wonder what was left of the brakes.
    And it sounds superb!

Can we take all the GT-R hatred and stick it in one thread? We could call it something like "ZR1 v. GT-R : Nurburgring times".

Probably allot, this car takes its brakes from the Enzo Ferrari and Ferrari FXX.

2 trackdays and an ex-boss had to have his Ferrari brakes replaced -- pads AND rotors
The question is still valid - as is the tyres one
