How Fast Can You Type ?

Like most of my polls, out of my curiosity wondering how fast can you type ?

Now, in order for it to be fair we need yard stick (or something like that), so when choosing the test set it to the following: 1 min, Zebra, WPM

EDIT: can someone change this to a public poll ?

63wpm. Fast typing in some industries means earning more and working better. Part of my success in early years of software industry was down to my teaching myself full touch typing. So avoid the negative connotations, charged, you don't need to type and some of us CAN type, race cars AND drink more beer and whisky without falling over. They are all skills

I always reckoned that my speed in typing probably added £10K per year to my salary during my career. So I'm not complaining ... not that important now though with speech recognition where I can easily exceed typing speed

97 WPM. I've done better on some other site. Sometimes I do pretty badly.

Probably the only person here who's age is greater than their WPM. I was born with a motor skills deficiency, which was actually considered a learning disability when I was in school. It never really held me back though, just can't play piano or type fast. My handwriting is somewhere between ape and kindergarten.

That being the case I appreciate the time and effort you put into this forum Quality over the quantity!

I tested my WPM in High School and it was at 60, I'll try this test later.

i agree, aim helps WPM speed. I failed @ 35 but i'm in a really uncomfortable position and a standard keyboard is more comfy for me then my macbook. I can type easier when i'm thinking what i want to say.

    what about texting speed?

Thank you Niko . I wish I could contribute more than I do, though I really do enjoy the forum. I learn something daily.

I always try to type slower than I think. Quite a few people out here should try to engage in such a policy.....

96 WPM after a bunch of beers tonight. Should be in the 100+ range when not intoxicated.

95wpm on that, got over 125wpm last year in computer class. Although I generally try to type around 50wpm with correct spelling and punctuation.
