    Hi everyone,

I've decided to buy the lens and sure enough, I got it this morning. Its a good quality lens and Im very satisfied with it. Apart from it being really heavy and not having a zoom lock switch, its very well built and takes very sharp pictures.

    Thanks for all the advice!

For those of you still wondering what the difference is between 300mm and 500mm (my original question), heres a few shots I just took (Please note: I dont have a full frame camera so the actual sizes are between brackets):

    300mm (480mm)

    500mm (800mm)

    Cool purchase!

How come you didn't buy this one?

Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 EX DG APO IF AF Lens for Nikon - eBay (item 360102415081 end time Nov-27-08 16:39:32 PST)

Edit- I dunno if your camera body is a Nikon or Canon, but, yeah.

Yes I was about to buy that one but then I realised that I would have to buy a pick up truck as well if I wanted to transport it. So in the end it wasnt very "feasable" if you know what I mean

The lens itself costs about what a pickup truck costs.
