A woman goes to the doctor to figure out why she is having breathing problems...The doctor tells her she is overweight. She says she wants a second opinion...the doctor says, "your ugly".
Great for them but I fail to see why their nationality is relevant or important. As if non-Americans couldn't save themselves..

im not saying non Americans couldn't...however, this is the first time the crew of a hijacked ship has fought back and retaken the ship since somali piracy has been making big news as of late. maybe it is a coincidence that they were Americans...but either way, they are the first ones who took the ship back and they were American
so as someone said earlier America F%CK YEAH!

If this would have happened to a French ship, the US media would not even have cared to report about it.....
Anyway, one crew member has been hijacked but the ship is free. If this will result in a significant ransom to be paid by Maersk, then hijacking crewmembers in stead of the whole might become a trend.

Hostage, 2 pirates killed in French rescue operation - CNN.com
So even though I don't see why the U.S. *should* report as much non-U.S. events as U.S. events, in fact you're dead wrong this time.
Also to those who claim the French are pansies, each time the pirates take hostages, the French go in and kick them in the ass. This guy died this time(1 out of the 4 hostages), but the last two times they took a bunch of pirates for trial.
I dont if I'll make home tonight

Let's not get too carried away ....
From another report from one of the actual crewmen ....
"made their move on the pirates when the U.S. Navy began to arrive"
a 2nd mate from the ship was just on the phone with cnn... the pirates are on the ship's lifeboat with the ship's master. they tried to do an exchange for the, but the pirates didnt hold up their end of the bargain. the whole situation is still progressing though.
on a personal note, when i was stationed in norfolk, i used to see that ship coming in and out pretty regularly. i like the maersk ships, generally top notch crews.
