But what about the Aveo's excellent corner rolling abilities?

How about a Pontiac G8? Might be a bit heavy for your liking but must be some damned good deals going on them right now and its very easy to get more power out of that motor.

WHo says Honda S2K is "not fun to drive" ?
    It's brilliant.
Have swapped cars with mate on track and the S2000 is damn good BUT you have to drive it like a 60s competition car -- ie "keep it on cam" by revving it's tits off
REAL easy to throttle steer, very predictable and controllable.
( PS: He HATED my A610 with a vengeance Too "raw" and turbo-kick too much )

if i were in your position i would snap up a decent second hand evo VIII fq-320. no doubt about it. you are afterall used to practicality from your previous cars. and the evo delivers on both that and performance by the truck load.

We didn't get the pleasure of owning FQ models on this side of the pond.

last gen MR2 with the TOMS Supercharger?, Seen them surprise the fu*k out of more powerful cars around eastern creek, which by no means is a tight twisty circuit.

But old Evo, STI or S2k, all very capable.

Not only that, but it would be impossible to find one under $20k.

The Z is a bit too fat. I drove one not too long ago and was bored. Plus I beat them on track in my R32 and I would like to go faster from there...
If you don't mind me asking, fat as in too wide or too heavy? Beat the Z autoxing or overall faster?

This could be fun.. and as far as parts go after it's gone, a few days ago Bob Lutz said they'll be importing a Holden something as a Chevy Caprice, so the Holden specific bit should still be easy to find.

Might be a slightly different car, if they import the same Caprice as the Middle East gets.. it's the LWB comfy version of the conformadore.

i think they intend to use the same one as the G8. so as to meet pre-existing export contracts.
