Its a '56 Citroen DS, one of the early versions which featured this artfully styled sweeping dashboard in combo with the horizontal speedo. Iirc the dash was at the time the largest plastic moulding yet fitted to any car.

I think it (the previous photo) is a really evocative pic

I think the DS is one of the most universally appreciated cars around these parts - even the Americans appreciate it's futurism.

Yeah at that speed it's three bearings of fury! Love the gearshift wand on those things

Maybe 75hp but for trivia I'm told that Citroen rated their engines at the clutch, maybe a tactic to 'reduce' taxable hp?

And that's what should've given it away, now that I've looked again at the picture, since AR -> Arrière, that's Reverse in French so it had to be a French car.

The DS is probably the epithome of what the French used to call Grande Routière and it's shame that only the C6 seems to carry that tradition currently.

the hacienda, manchester 1982. the birthplace of rave culture as we know it, and what Joy Division and New Order called home.

Just to mark the reopening of the original factory records office as a refurbished and reborn indie night club, FAC251, AKA the paradise factory.
