Its a '56 Citroen DS, one of the early versions which featured this artfully styled sweeping dashboard in combo with the horizontal speedo. Iirc the dash was at the time the largest plastic moulding yet fitted to any car.

I think the DS is one of the most universally appreciated cars around these parts - even the Americans appreciate it's futurism.

And that's what should've given it away, now that I've looked again at the picture, since AR -> Arrière, that's Reverse in French so it had to be a French car.
The DS is probably the epithome of what the French used to call Grande Routière and it's shame that only the C6 seems to carry that tradition currently.
