The point is that there is a large section of the car buying public that like raised off-road trucks. I see many trucks raised wayyy to high with nobby tires on a daily basis here in socal! Ford is just appealing to the masses!

Finally some one that understands this truck in this thread. Ford aimed this truck to people that like desert racing and people who are racers themselves. It verges the link between race truck and street truck. Its much like a street car that can also excell on a road race circut and then drive home. Its not made to be a mud bogger or anything like that. Its truly fuctional. Ford has always been good at answering niche markets calling IMO and this truck is one of them.

Heres a video for those who are still having doubts.

I never read the press releases for new cars so I just figured this was for playboys to drive down the boulevard for attention -- my mistake, didn't know it was an off-road monster

I've seen an F-150 with a monster truck suspension. It looked utterly ridiculous and very redneck.

Different strokes for different folks. Just because you dont understand why people enjoy it doesnt mean you have to call it redneck and utterly ridiculous.

+1 on that. Though I will admit I get this truck more than I ever did the Lightnings...'sport' and 'truck' are kinda mutually exclusive unless it's something like this you take to your hunting and fishing weekend deep in the Sierras...I can get that. It's why othe old K-Blazers and Broncos have always secretly appealed to me

You say that like you think that redneck is an insult.

Another driven review of the SVT Raptor. I think it sums this truck up nicely:

The Raptor is a truck almost nobody asked for. If you're a HDRA/SCORE racing fan, or a desert rat who is already into ATVs or buggies, consider yourself an almost infinitesimal fraction of the truck-buying public. And lucky. The 2010 Ford SVT Raptor is your dream truck. Use it daily and then bomb around the desert on weekends.
