Old two stroke to get a new life.

I got a old two stroke scooter witch is my daily transportation.
The emision regulations get stricter and stricter and I know I will not pass the emision test next time.
I have ben playing with the idea to bore out the old liner and replce it with a new one where I can use custom made ports where I eliminate the exhaust port.
I want to move the exhaust port to the cylinder head and get cam and valve from a old dead 125cc and make it become something like this.

I will still use the crankcase for savanging and not a root's blower like on the picture.

Has this be done befour?
I have not ben able to find any info on the WorldWideWeb.

Beyond the joy of playing with it I can't see why bother.
MUCH cheaper to just get a new scooter compliant with all current emissions
WHere are you going to get the drive for the valve train and how much power are you going to lose ?
Gas flow in a 2 stroke has a HUGE impact on performance and emissions, can't convince myself that the restricions of a poppet valve won't screw it up completely.
However, soudns a fund project to play with ... jstu don't expect too much of it and make sure you've other transport
