Usually I would wait for a movie to come out on Netflix to watch it, but it sounds like it's an amazing theater experience. We might go down to Carson City to watch it one of these days.
UCP FTW!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep hearing that's amazing, but my friend said that it seemed like a mashup of Finding Nemo and Independence Day.
And that he also said everyone said "WTF?" when the movie ended. I'll watch it eventually, maybe with my friends.
I 'd love to see but since the story line supposedly sucks, I don't know now.

Saw this yesterday in 3D, and I thought it was pretty awesome. Didn't have a clue what it's about, but I had kind of high expectations going in based on what I've heard.
Turns out I was pleasantly surprised, both by the effects and the movie itself.
If you really want to know most of the problems someone could potentially have with it, this sums it up pretty well (do not watch if you haven't watched the movie itself yet):
Avatar review by Gladstone
I was reading up on this movie a year before it even came out and told people about how good it was going to be when it did, yet I haven't even seen the damn thing yet
Maybe I'll go today

Story is sorta flat(think Dances with Wolf, Last Samurai...etc), but very well acted by CGI standard, and well acted by normal movie standard. There are a few scenes that is quite moving(not necessarily sad, just very raw and expressive). Seeing it in IMAX 3D was pretty spectacular. The Pandora is quite beautiful. I think the resemblence to Huey for the Heli was intentional, think Apocalypse Now. And I think it was a brilliant stroke to make the main character a crippled human....adds a lot of dramatic element to the story...

i saw it, admittedly in the non 3d format, and it met all expectations. it is jim cameron, so you know the effect are going to be top shelf, and the story would be about as exciting as reading the ingredients on a cereal box. do i regret seeing it, no. would i see it again in 3d, maybe if i had the better part of a day and a 50 dollar bill to part ways with. but even so the graphics in 2d were incredible, but no matter how awesome they are, they can't make up for a crap script.
