GM is in trouble - Power Steering Issues

GM is the gift that keeps on giving. They can't even build a small car correctly or to save their soul. I guess Culver thinks i am just a GM hater, eh? Maybe Culver thinks I am the one writing the articles while siting in my parent's basement, eh? Well, here is more food for ya, Culver. GM is a bad dream on the american automobile landscape. Why can't Gm do anything right?

How can you say, why can't GM do anything right, acting like it's their fault that an outside company made faulty pumps.

But GM has an obligation to ensure quality control and testing of the equipment that bears a semblance of their company logo.

Thank you so much. I hope you had a wonderful day today. I am particularly passionate about GM because i beleive in my soul that GM can do better. For some unknown reason, GM always chooses not to do better. This is what breaks my heart about GM.

Have they said what causes the failure of the pump?
Our Dodge Ram 3500 diesel dually goes through power steering pumps like crazy, which also gives pressure to the brakes (hydraulic assist). Should I brand their name as a "bad dream on the american automobile landscape" also?
I guarantee every brand has issues with parts, should they all be called a "bad dream on the american automobile landscape"?

Actually, Mr Marcionne, the Fiat man from Italy, is doing a great job terrorizing the heck out of the dull executives at Chrysler. So, I am not worried about Chrysler because Mr Marcionne is acting exactly as i think he should with the lousy set of management at Chrysler---as an undertaker.

GM needs an undertaker as well, and so far, they do not have one.

As far as reliability is concerned, I have a 271,000 mile 4 cylinder Nissan car with the original power steering pump and engine. Power steering leaks a little in winter and doesn't during spring, summer, and fall. It is true that every brand has issues. It is also true that GM has more issues.

seriously G35Coupe, I love my G35 but it has issues. My fuel door lock motor doesn't work and its not covered under warranty and infiniti wants $100 for a new one. i tied a string to it to manualy open it. our engines burn oil like crazy. our compression rod bushings wear out really quickly. we have problems like many others. nothing is perfect.

On the Nissan, i have had to replace the Alternator once by my choice, and not because it died. I replaced my radiator once--overhetaed on me because a front bra on the car restricted air flow as it aged, my clutch three times (because I drive hard), my starter twice (by my choice). I just replace stuff because i feel like and not because they have failed. I am big on preventive maintenance. I change my oil every 2,000 miles and i use Fram tough guard filter, do a complete tune up every year (spark plug, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, pcv valve)---i change air filter every 3 - 4 months. The only big thing i replaced is the original transmission which i beleive was damaged because something fell into the transmission when the clutch was being replaced or that the clutch was replaced wrongly by one technician i once used. Yet, it lasted a good 4 years with a rattling noise while the gears wore down slowly but surely. The 5th gear went out and so i had to get used one. This occured at 240,000 miles. I still drie the car hard. I outran a BMW X-3 with twice as much horsepower as my car. And i have outrun numerous trucks and cars with my Nissan. My timing is set at 18 degrees, eventhough the book calls for 10 degrees. I use 93 octane from Chevron all day long and i still get 30 - 32 miles per gallon when i drive normally on the highway. The car still uses the original timing chain it came with---271,000 miles baby. i love this little car. Its my daily driver.

I have had only 2 waranty issues done on my car---one was replacing the back up light and the other was replacing a purge valve near the fuel tank.

This is my take on the G-35 coupe. First, it was built as a GT car before it was built as a luxury car. Infiniti reversed the design process with the G-37----luxury car first, then GT second. The G-35 needs ot be driven hard for the most part or else it starts behaving in an unusual and annoying manner.

I was given a revised VQ engine and it is excellent. The original engine I had burnt a lot of oil and it lacked torque. Without too much hassle, Infiniti gave me another engine at 13,000 miles. Revised engine is excellent and has lots of torque. I rev my car to 7,000 rpm every time i get into it. I now have about 38,000 miles on that engine. I love it.

The G-35 was so severely restricted from factory in order to make it user friendly and emission friendly, such that the restrictions actually hurt the car. My whole intake and exhaust systems are almost replaced with the exception of the exhaust headers, which will soon be removed. My timing has been increased to about 18 degrees from 16 degrees. I use Royal Purple 5w-30, and i change my oil every 2,000 miles, i change my differential fluid every year, replace my cold air intake filter every 6 months, radiator fluid every year, gear oil every 2 years (Nissan brand of gear and diff oil works excellently) etc. Excellent oil!!! Royal Purple literally released the engine to rev up as quickly as possible. If I add a light weight flywheel and remove the backseats, my G-35 would be literally unstoppable because of the lightness.

This is a car that needs to be punished regularly if you want it to last a long time. Babying the G-35 or the 350z (basically the same cars) is the worst thing you can do. This si the worst car to drive if you want to drive normally and gently. Thats why i have another car, which allows me to drive normally.

I run with V-8s, except the Corvette, and some smaller cars like the Evo, M-3, and WRX STIs. But I get lots of complements from the Evo guys, mostly because of how my exhaust sounds. It is very sweet--may attract lots of cops to you, though. Get a Stillen catback and Strupp down pipes and you are set. Surprisingly, the G-35s ECU has the ability to adjust and retune itself to the new modifications on the car. It takes a while for the ECU to make such adjustments. But when it does adjust, it is awesome. In fact, the car has stopped shutting off the injectors at 6,800 rpm, as a result of the modifications i have on it. I had no idea i had so much more power in that car. The dual mass flywheel may rattle a lot more as it ages. I also change front brake pads every 6 months. Infiniti has improved the brake pads they have for the 2005 - 2007 G-35 coupes----good stopping power and less brake dust.

Just as I said on the Toyota thread... It's not really the car manufacturer's fault, as it was a third party parts supplier. I don't blame Toyota for the pedal, and I don't blame GM for this, as long as it's not their part. (Believe me, I hate GM. But I still don't blame them for someone else's part.)

Reading the site, it seems Ford is having issues as well.

    Isn't that 3?

With one a rather major one?

Doesn't that mean that Nissan makes shit cars, and should improve them - as its one of their parts that failed, not that of an outside supplier?
