Because they don't intend to produce it, but want some kudos form hardcore oldschool purists like you, and quite a few others on this site and within the car world that were grew up during the Ur-Quattro's victories in the WRC or read about it after the fact?
... Seriously though, is this intended for production? I somehow doubt it.
Totally unexpected, but I like it.
I really like it, an interesting, exciting AUDI. something i haven't seen in a long time.
"Religious belief is the “path of least resistance”, says Boyer, while disbelief requires effort."
This is pretty nice, I have to say. The rear is freudian good.
And the fact the concept has mirrors is pretty encouraging too - if it has real mirrors, it's more likely to be considered for production.
Ah who am I kidding, they'll rehash an S5.

Love the front...the rear not so much...reminds me of the Gallardo rear which I was never impressed with.
Overall me likes.
I would say the original was two..
I don't consider the original to be a looker, either. However the rear of this, Charger design elements aside, is starting to grow on me. I guess I like fat asses because those rear haunches are quite nice. Same reason I like old RSRs, I suppose.
Whitout any sort of sarcasm, this is a really nice design. Usually, I'm not a big fan of retro designs (they are somewhat uninspiring), but this one ticks all the right boxes. The design is right, the engine choice is perfect, it's awd and it's light.
BTW, i have some hope that this design will (in some way) carry over to serial production. It would make completely no sense to work > 2 years to build a one-off. Maybe some hints on the next-gen A5? I hope so.

Dream ride: red 1971 Opel Commodore GS/E
Crazy about this car.
The front could do with a rework in much the same way the VW IROC turned out when it morphed into the Scirocco, but overall I'd say this could be the most interesting car to come from this year's Paris show (so far at least).
Seems like I'm on the same page as a few people here as far as tastes go.
I wouldn't change anything about its back end.
The side profile is questionable.
The front looks like complete crap. Kind of resembles a GT-R yawning...if it could do that.
The specs are quite impressive. Will be quite interesting to see how good the real thing actually is, and what sort of cars it will compete with. What would it compete with??? Maybe I'm wrong, but this car has its own niche. Similar rally focus of course to Evos and STIs but a completely new level of performance as well as price.
Maybe its similar to the extremity of the Alfa Brera concept before it hit production. It also had huge power and big expectations, but what we got was an affordable hot hatch/fwd "sports" car. Only problem is that this car, the Quattro is built to actually pay homage to the Ur Quattro, in which case it can't be cheap and it can't have everyday performance.

I like it. I think it would be cool if they made it, but as has been pointed out already, seriously doubt it. It really isn't in line with most of their current demographic in my opinion.
I found this pic on another forum.
Seems a rally attempt would be doubtful though.
