I actually wanted to get a huge sticker for my 206, something like this:

Because I saw your post from an angle (I'm using a TV screen rather than a PC monitor), I thought that said "Z06"...I was like "Whoa, nice ride!"

Those Italian rules sure are restrictive...and a PITA if your parents / other relatives plan to hand you down their old cars. I'm glad I'm not of that age anymore - insurance was a big sting in the wallet when I was 18.

Ya.. my first car was my mum's old Rover SD1 V8. It was after 6 weeks in an old ford courier diesel, but still.. fun for a novice.

Insurance is going to sting me bad, a £400 mrk1 Corsa will cost me £3600 to insure, my Mini clubman will cost me £4000 to insure because it's modded, and thats going though a Mini specialist. So i won't be in a rush to drive.

The main problem was finding something within the limits, but we wouldn't have bought something that much different without them for running costs reasons. There were many good options I had to discard though.

Insurance wasn't that bad. Would have been 1.000 € with road assistance, but through a new law I could get the same class of my parents, so it was I saved 220 € with the same specs.

HDI models have too many miles too, I've set my standard as under 125.000 km.

I'm considering renting a microcar (Panda, 500 and the likes) for next week, would cost 170 € but also give me more time to come to a decent decision.

Thanks for the inputs so far.

I don't like the quality of VW's ride, stiff and yet not sporty. The Ibiza felt a bit better when I got few rides in one some years ago.
I actually don't have so many options so it will probably be based on the better offer I'll find. I just want to exclude cars with a known problem and that kind of stuff.

Like crappy seats on the Citroen C2 and C3, or the uncomfortable seats in the previous gen Punto.
thats funny that you mention the poor quality of the Peugeot, On all of the reliabilty surveys french cars are always on the very bottom! I would never buy a french car. :P

there is no bias by country in there, please be less prejudiced and inform yourself about cars that are not available in the country where you live.

FastDriver, most all of the members of this site have watched a large amount of Top Gear at some point in our automotive enthusiasm. I've noticed that a lot of the information in your posts; "French cars are unreliable", "The Golf is better than the 1 Series" etc... seem to come from the mouths of Jeremy(mostly), James, or Richard.
While we enjoy Top Gear for the entertainment it provides us, and it is a common experience that most gearheads across the world have partaken in, you cannot take what they say at face value; Clarkson & Co. are not as much automotive journalists as comedians and their evaluations of cars are often shallow or downright fabrications. While we appreciate your enthusiasm, it's always nice to have new blood to spice things up around here, please don't fall into the trap of regurgitating Jeremy's opinions verbatim.

Yeah of course not, There are many times I desagree with what they think about certain cars. And they contradict themselves constantly. I was only mentioning that they do not agree with each other ether. which means we aren't expected to all agree that one single cars is better than all others. It is just simple physics
