    First picture, Primera '96 JTCC P11

    The UNISIA JECS Camino competed in the 1996 All Japan Touring Car Championships with the Sunny. The driver was Masahiko Kageyama. Its Japan Touring Car Championship debut was in round 3 in 1996. That season, it achieved its first win in JTCC Round 8 in MINE. There was a wide range of cars in this event, including the Corona EXiV, the Civic Ferio, Opel, and BMW.

    From 1994, the All Japan Touring Car Championship was contested in the Super Touring Car category (2,000cc, 4-door sedan). With the introduction of this new category, on a like-for-like basis made for a close contest and race became even more exciting. The Primera (P10), Sunny (B14), and Primera Camino (P11) all performed well.

    Launched in September 1995, the second-generation P11, like its predecessor, used its advantage of an SR engine and multilink suspension to do well in the JTCC or Japan Touring Car Championship and in various European championship races. It also came 2nd in series at South East Asia Touring Car Zone Challenge in 1998, in which many different Asian countries competed.

    From about 1992, an increasing number of European countries staged their own championship events based on the super touring car (4-door sedan with 2-liter engine). In the UK, the Primera had been performing well since the time of the P10. In 1999, out of 26 races it achieved 13 wins, coming first in the Manufacturers category, the Driver category, the Team category, and the Privateer category.
