This week, RM Sotheby's will host a pair of auctions with cars from the Carrera Collection. Dedicated mainly to Porsches, the stable is actually located in two countries so there will be a sale in Switzerland today and then in Italy on Wednesday. Included in the Swiss part of the auction are three high-performance 993-generation Porsche 911s. Among them is this 911 GT2 R, which has had an extensive and eventful competition career. Raced in the 1999 and 2000 FIA GT Championship by Seikel Motorsport, it was later restored in Italy. Chassis ZTS393074 has a CHF 350,000 - 450,000 estimate.
Considered the ultimate air-cooled, naturally Porsche 911 for the road is the Carrera RS 3.8 of which a yellow example has been consigned. The car was delivered new to Switzerland and has remained there ever since. For those customers that felt the RS 3.8 was not hardcore enough, Porsche also produced a limited run of the Clubsport version. Lighter still, it also boasted a tall rear wing. The example on offer from the Carrera Collection was delivered new to Germany and has been part of this stable since 2009.
