Italian coach-builder Zagato have released the first details of the AGTZ Twin Tail. It is inspired by this particular Alpine A220 from 1968, which had its Le Mans specific long-tail removed to compete in road rallies. Accordingly the limited production Twin Tail has the option to be used with a long- and short-tail. Although clearly inspired by a car from the French manufacturer, the word Alpine does not appear in the press release once and what the AGTZ is based on is also not mentioned. The first of the 19 Twin Tails will debut during the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in May.
At the Bahrain International Circuit, the official three-day Formula 1 pre-season test kicked off on Wednesday. Followed with particular interest were defending champions Red Bull Racing. Instead of developing another evolution of the all-conquering RB18 and RB19, the Austrian-owned team have produced the more radical RB20. The latest Adrian Newey design features the 'zero side-pod' philosophy that failed so miserably for the Mercedes-Benz F1 team. It seems to work better for Red Bull Racing as Max Verstappen easily beat the opposition on the opening day with the RB20. The first and only official test also offered an opportunity to get a first look at cars of which only the new liveries were previously released. Among them was the Williams FW46, which was the last of the 2024 cars to be shaken down. The Mercedes-engined car represents the next step in the slow but steady resurgence of the legendary Williams F1 team. The Sauber C44 on the other hand is a product of a team in transition from the Alfa Romeo backing of the last few years to the imminent full Audi ownership. The C44 has the most striking livery on the grid with a black and bright-green colourscheme.
