How does odor travel ?!

Ok, so we have come up with theories that light travel in rays and sound travels in waves. I dont recall anyone mentioning what is the method of travel used by scent ?? So how does it spread around, i think it might be by diffusion but thats just my guess.

Anyone got more info on the strange topic ?

im guessing that it is moved by wind, the particles that have the scent are blown by the movement of the air

when you fart, you release gasses, mainly methane

methane then diffuses through the air "trying to attain equilibrium" (i.e., it spreads out trying to create a perfect balance of molecules dispersed in the air.)

depending on how far away you are, your nose picks up the dispersion of molecules, and then you proceed to blame it on the dog
