huh... now what would've happened if they used the "S" model instead of the stock Carrera?

well, I'd still vote for the Porsche.

But driving a large torquey engined car is different to driving a european car with the power high up the rev range. Obviously the driver isn't experienced at drving cars like the 911 which is why it lost.
    Thanks for all the fish

Yes, thats why they said it understeers in the corners, cause they dont know how to drive it right?
Unlike european jounralists, ours know how to drive most cars, and the 911 is no execption.

    ha-ha-ha

    True colors (!) showing Slicsk.

So Eureopean journos dont' know how to drive 'vettes and that's why it's slower.
But US journos obviosuly know how to drive 911s and that's no excuse for it being slower.

    WOW, bipolar or what

Trail braking is something a front engine car does NOT need but is critical when pushin on a mid/rear engine car. Let me assure you THIS IS ONE AREA where I've hundreds of hours of track experience on Don't be so quick to assume American journos are somehow better than European.

EDIT: ANyway read it and it's as I've said woo-hoo
Interesting they talked about "axlae-tramping launch" erm not with IRS you dont That was wheel bounce guys and needed more throttle control and less clutch-dump on launch !

and will we see retractions to all those who attacked the "mouse" on Top Gear for complaining abotu it baulking gear change ? Is it possible when pushed that the box isn't as good as it is when driven less aggressively, slowly and NOT-sportscar-like ??? SOunds like it .....

Can you post me an article that shows a 911 beating a vette? A great example ONCE AGAIN of european journalists not knowing how to drive is the Viper not being able to acclerate fast, and the C6 on top gear...

    Agreed, same point shared.
Is the Corvette a good sportscar? Yes
Is the Corvette the best sportscar? No
Again agreed, and like ive said numerous times before I never said anything about the vette being the best car for anything.
Do Certian qualities have some inherent advantages? Yes
Can the same qualities have some inherent disadvantages? Yes
    True, again.
Can the Corvette lap certain tracks faster than a 911? Yes
Can the Corvette lap All tracks faster than a 911? No
Aslo true, although i have yet to see a 911 of the same class beat a vette.
Are some cars designed, to a degree, more for one purpose than another? Yes
    Is this wrong? No
Again right, your on a roll.
Can the Corvette design be, although it is a sportscar, still lean towards straighter courses?___
Can the Corvette be outdone on certain track?___
In the case of the first question, id say its as leaned toward the straits as much as the 911 is. GM been seriously focusing on handling on the past few corvettes.
And ofcourse the corvette can be outdone on some tracks.
Can I buy good quality clothing for a competitive price? Yes
Do people shop on Rodeo drive for competitive prices? No
Yeah, porsche guys arent going to care that the vette is an all around better deal, but thats thier opinion.
Does the Corvette have a price advantage against certain cars(within US)? Yes
Does this price advantage make up for any disadvantages?___
Do cars from thier own country has price advantages? Dont be one sided, all car have price advantages on thier own turf.
Does this dialoque change your worldview?___(probably not)
Did it maybe help you consider that different perpectives exist?___
    [/quote]
No because Ive though off all those points years ago. I may as well write in my sig that the corvette isnt the best, because i dont think it is. You all assume that because i have to correct you about the corvette that i must love it. Not true, i like to get the truth out there...
BTW Is the corvette costing more in european countries going to make me not buy it here in america?

We'd gone over this - something else you chose to "read over" I guess

Anyway, I'll recap for you, there are differences in cars and tests. Get it ?

Suspensions settings for European and US are often different, I can't say for the 'vette though. So differnet setups can account for different laucnh. Until they publish all the sprind and damper settings for each test you can never be sure - and if you expect them to do THAT you're in cloud-cuckoo-land. IT woudl turn off 99% of the normal readers.

    Tyres are different compounds.

Roads/tracks are different materials with different grips.

Thes all alter things so any comparison within 1/4 second are pointless and you clearly "read over" THAT before too.

Oh and still not trying to do "archibald" are you
You cite the European journalist comment again as if it's gospel and yet ignore the possibility that lack of expereince and skill on the other hand can also affect it. eg the 911 and not trail braking and talkign abotu axle-tramp !!
PLEASE Slicks , you're jsut making yourself look even MORE bigotted and idiotic.

And MY bigest personal problem is I don't suffer fools gladly. I try my bets to TRY to be accepting of stupidity and lack of consideration but I can't keep it up for long. So usually I jsut step out or block bposts or whatever. But you THEN take that consideration as a 'win' for you. So this time I'm in the mood to shine the bright light of analysis and tear up your viewpoint with your own comments. I'm in a sh!tty mood and you're gonna take the wrath of my analaytical skill until you whimper like a pussy
