Things I know about Germany:
Stuttgart: Porsche
Munich: BMW
Ingolstadt: Audi (I think)
Mercedes Benz comes from here.
Volkswagen come from here too. PS are they from Wolfsburg?
So does very malty beer.
And some guy named Hitler also came from here, which gave some REALLY bad press.
So does Diane Kruger and Elisabeth Rohm, and both are hot.
I don't know a word of German.
I would take the prsche any day. I just dont like bmw sports cars, they should stick to their family cars and porsche will make the sports cars!
Der Carrera S hat einen 3.8l Motor. Der Standart 911er hat weiterhin den alt bewährten 3,6l Boxer...Originally Posted by jcp123

What about the WilliamsF1 BMW FW26 (there are plenty of cars i could name)?
That doesn't look like a family car to me.
And what about the Cayenne? That doesn't look like a sports car...

I don't think BMW got a "yuppie" image.
BMW has a very sporty oriented marketing and that's the image they have over here.
My vote goes to the M3. And NOOOO i'm not a BMW fanatic.
I just don't like the Porsche image

That's true, Bimmers probably do have a different image in Germany than here. Mostly, it's the young professionals here who buy them because BMW's have some kind of positive effect on their image to most people. "I drive this car because it's good for my image. I'm modern." I would say a minority of people here buy BMW's for their performance or because they actually put much research in to see what all is actually out there. The magazines here all being BMW fanboys doesn't help.
Sadly, those who are even ignorant to that are then saddled with that image too.

In the Uk the two cars are probably equal in status terms, i.e. they have a slightly more discerning customer base. However the general opinion of standard Carrera or M3 versions is pretty low.
Porsche Carrera base model: fat, balding middle aged businessman having a mid life crisis.
M3 - Drug dealer, or works in IT.
