    Caravan's backfiring

here's the deal, my dad has to travel by an airplane for business trips almost every week, so he drives the Lemon caravan to teh airport and me and my mom use the Escort (the car that's reliable) and, well, he we about to pull out of the "Qwik Park" when there was heavy hesitation and the car was about to die, but then he heard a bang that sounded like backfire (cool, the lemon's only 7 years old and it's already in the same running condition of Uncle Bucks car) and it was rolling. He thought that some of teh hesitation had to do with a sitcking caliper. Well today, he was driving it up to Belle Tire to get the brakes checked, and they said the brakes were just fine, so he headed home, and the check engine light came on, he thinks it might have to do with the backfire last night. We both thing it is a cylander misfire, and it will need new wires and plugs if it is, but I wanted to run it by you guys.

BTW, There is only hesitation and backfire if the car is parked for more than a day, if it is only parked overnight, then it will get up and go without hesitation and backfire.

So it only missfires once then runs fine, or does it misfire constantly?

So the car starts normally, and then backfires?

I'm just taking a stab at something going wrong with your spark-plug, or maybe a cylinder went down.

if it is parked for over a day, when you try to drive it, it hesitates and almost dies, then backfires and drives. This only happens once and just as I said, if it is parked for over a day.

Sounds like fuel/oil/water is leaking into the cylinders or something.

ok, the Backfiring stopped, it was all a crossed wire, and My dad figured it out. But now it's shaking whenever we try to accelerate, when we try to reverse it shakes and feels like it's going to die, then goes. and it now shakes when it is at a complete halt, and well, to put it shortly, it runs like Uncle Buck's car.

We took it into a dealer Galiena's Van Dyke Dodge to be exact, and they said that they will replace teh wires, spark plugs, and teh AIF motor. hopefully that will fix it.

so pretty much, we go in Escort, Van stays.

My car was like that the other day. My dad changed the plugs because one of them had cracked so the sparks were misfiring.
