I'm doing a mahogany center with maple wings, although there will probably be some maple towards the center from the wings, since I took the mahogany down to 7" wide. I've wanted to do this for a long time, so I finally just bought some wood, figured no turning back now! I've got the back wood glued up and the top glued, just need to level the surfaces of each and join them, then comes the fun part.

Bolt on neck, compound radius. I'm just buying the neck from Warmoth, while I could make a flat neck pretty well, I wouldn't know where to start with a radius fingerboard, and they are much better to play, so I'll go with a purchased one. Plus, for the money, it's cheaper. You can get a nice birdseye maple neck with rosewood, compound radius, pre-fretted for $140, all you have to do is finish it (not a big deal) and install the nut (slightly more work), but it would take me more than 14 hours to carve a neck, so it's worth it to me.
all sounds good so far. the warmoth has some nice products form what i have experienced, but i have only seen and not played. and the neck was really going to be the biggist obstacle i could see.

what kind of bridge are you going to use? fender floating style, solid, or my favorite, bigsby? how about pickups, what brand and what configuration? or is that still a little ways out?

do you have all the woodworking tools to shape the body or are you using a shop? or be crazy and hand carve? can't wait to see a finished product, hopefully it will turn out as well as it has the potential of turning out.

What sort of music are you going to be playing mostly with it? Interesting to see the correlation with what pickups and bridge you will use.

My wife is, Graphic Design at one of the top Graphic Design schools in Florida. It's around $1400 per class, and since it's based on trimesters you end up spending about $22k a year considering she only takes 4 classes per trimester. She has a 3.89GPA, I can't complain... hopefully it'll pay off in the future. Every single day I think of the fact that I could pretty much own any car I wanted (in a very decent price range) if it wasn't for that expense

I'm gonna scope out the city and sneak attack you when you least expect it. Then I'll run back to NY-Penn and take the train back to New Brunswick.
Stop by, I'll buy you a beer

Are you staying at Night Hotel then? That place is epic.
Milford Plaza is the name of the hotel. Ever been there?

Where are you going? I didn't realize you were in school.
I have a B.S.B.A with a minor in Management, graduated in '05. I'm looking forward to a Masters, possibly in Accounting... but I have way too many bills and too much work right now, maybe once my wife is done with school.

    The world is officaly CRAZEEEEE
I can do that trip for LESS from Scotland
Are you serious? That IS crazy.

As I'm sure you know, your wife is worth more than any car in the world, and giving her her dreams and her a career is one of the better things you can do to be honest.

Besides, you can buy a nice NSX-R after she graduates... And she can help foot the bill with her sweet job money!

Well, as I mentioned, with her income he could potentially buy an even sicker car in the future.

I'm doing the same thing now, Hope to move into hotel (casino) management or possibly finance. Did you take the GMAT or the GRE?

Milford has good prices, and the location is epic. Just don't expect a 5 star. The location is so good though you probably won't be spending much time in your room.

BTW go to the Bronx and see the new stadium.

Search Monster.com and you'll see that in the area of Business the most jobs (with the best pay) are being offered to Accounting/Finance mayors... If I could go back in time I'd take one of those.

    Nope.

I was thinking a Les Paul style fixed bridge, with ferrules instead of a tailpiece. Never getting a tremolo guitar again, lose tune way too fast for how little I use the actual tremolo part. Going with a two humbucker set up, not sure what brand, probably Seymour Duncan, I put one in my Stratocaster and I'm pretty happy with it.

Yes I have all the tools to shape it, haven't thought about carving the top, I might just go with the Fender style belly and forearm bevels, carved by hand with a spokeshave.

Seriously. I was left playing Twilight Princess again because I didn't want to buy anymore kiddy games. Then my PS3 arrived and then my Wii is now the official dust collector in the house. Even though I only have two games for the PS3, Call of Duty 5 and Far Cry 2. Finished Call of Duty, just barely started Far Cry 2.

I hear this from a lot of people. Is the Wii just not that interesting after you've finished waving the controller around? I'm just curious because I'm thinking of getting one. The low res is a bit weak though but the games I've tried have all been bloody good fun.

The newness definitely dies out after a couple months. I find a total lack of serious games to be the real Achilles' heel for the Wii. Plus, the motion sensing is cool, but I find that it lacks precision, which was fixed with a new add on that attaches itself to the Wiimote. It's another $20 add on. Plus, I hate the fact that the Wii is a great collector of peripherals. The Wii Fit Balance board? How often do you think you'll use that? It's $120 or so, last time I checked. And to my knowledge, it only works for that game for the time being.

Definitely not the gaming system for the serious gamer. If you have kids or have parties a lot though, it's alright, I guess. Plus, there's no real racing simulation for the Wii. Gran Turismo FTW. Unless it gets delayed for a decade. Plus Mario Kart was cool for the first 5 or so hours. But since I am a racing fan, I tend to be a more skilled driver than item user. Which totally sucks when there's a huge handicap system where the most unskilled drivers (a.k.a. last) get the most insane items almost 98% of the time. So you get run over by 20 Chomp Chomps and 1000 spiked shells and lose the match because of that. It's seriously frustrating.

    This.

I just want to defend Mario Kart quickly though. If you get semi-serious with the game try to unlock all the characters and karts/bikes. And try using manual. It becomes a bit more intense and gives you the ole racing feel rather than mario item abuse.
