As a new VW owner I guess I will root for this....although I am sure Citroen will still win...
Still, Citroen, Ford, Mini and now VW. WRC is sounding pretty healthy right now...
Side note, I think this is the most conservative looking of the 4, but to my taste also looks the best...

It's not that much of an achivement looking better than the Countryman.
Also not a fan of the modern approach of the Fiesta and DS3.

Nice, although i don't realy folow WRC. I realy like the Citroen DS3 WRC.
Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you."

I'm not completely sure (ok, I know, the answer is marketing) why VAG used Skoda in the IRC and now will enter WRC with VW, after already having already competed there with Skoda, and Audi as well.
VW never performed well in rallying iirc.
Maybe using Seat was a good way to try to recover the brand now that WTCC is not their primary effort?

Perhaps not overall, but Golf were class winners since the original GTI was homologated in the late 70's. Also, Beetles have a good record (several wins, I'd say) at the East African Safari, back when speed mattered less and traction was important.
I doubt Audi want to be associated with rallying anymore. Not enough glamour and glitz, you know...
I bet Seat is going to continue on the WTCC now that the engine will be standardized. In fact, the Leon will soon receive the new 1.6 litre turbo.

Audi has been a boon to sportscar racing in the last decade. Let's give them credit where it is due. Rallying served them well, and they served it well, and now they have moved on.
I do not know who to cheer for this year, but I have cheered for Audi against Peugeot in past years even if you have converted me to Audi-dislike for their road cars.
I just hope these on/off again rumours of a Porsche LMP1 come true.
The idea of a hybrid gas Porsche prototype going up against say, a Toyota hybrid and Peugeot diesel hybrid is wonderful.
It is all far too early to say though.
Have you heard anything about a Porsche LMP1 project henk?
I always felt it was kind of a shame that there wasn't an Audi S3 in WRC, especially back when they were hurting for lack of manufacturers. Now they're too big, so the Polo makes more sense anyway.
Life's too short to drive bad cars.
With the 307 WRC and the Xsara T4. And it was around the same time Peugeot started losing and Citroen winning.
I think that their competition departments work separetely because they both had kitcars, and ferocious battles both in national championships and in tarmac rallyes in the world championship.
