    The R

    Hey guys,
I have already made a thread on this car but as i have been busy with college etc, i hadnt updated it in a long time, so i figured id create a new thread, with real facts this time; when i last posted, the car was new to us, and we are still finding out facts about the car every day due to its rarity.

(If a mod could delete the old thread entitled 'My Dads Car', it'd be much appreciated)

I dunno about your R, but my R (850) stops brilliantly. Also, I like the fact that mine is FWD. It's proof that Volvo can make a properly lairy car if they want to. Or nowadays, if Ford would let them...

Not sure of any exact AU figures, but I'm told mine is one of 25 red manual sedans. The wagons are cooler though.

So is this your car now, or is it still your dad's?

Either way, cool looking wagon. I hope America looks more towards wagons instead of stupid SUVs.

When driving 'without any passion' shall we say, there is no doubt that the car can cope with the brakes currently fitted, however my Dad does drive at speed, whenever he can actually use the car, and after a few high-speed brakes the amount of brake fade is quite worrying. Loving your R too btw, always been a massive fan of the 850Rs...

Yup, the 2.4Rs only came as AWD (and Auto) meaning cornering can be quite fun

Nope, pretty much zero understeer actually; the right choice of tyres make a word of difference.

The gearbox is adaptive. It logs the driving characteristics of the driver from the previous drive; so if someone were to go hell-for-leather, the throttle respeonse and ratio of each gear would be recorded and used for the next drive. If this manner of driving is not needed, the 'box will reset itself and record the current driving style.

Haha. It is impressive though, sure the change times could be improved but the kick down when you plant your right foot is brutal and will only change down into 4th at 130mph...once these brakes go on, itll be awesome.
