its not the carbon brakes getting a bad wrap, its the electro-hydraulic system activating the brakes that is, merc havent gotten the right feel for the brakes yet and for now have switched back to hydraulic brakes, which surprises me why they thought theyd be any better on the SLR. peter robinson whi tested one for wheels magazine in south africa said something along the lines of for low to medium braking you have to push the pedal further than expected but if you push too far all the stopping power comes on all of a sudden

whate r u talking about? MBmclaren SLR isn't a supercar for tracks only. IT's a mess in front of Enzo, Carrera gt, and Audi Le mans!!!. This supercar is a luxury car with lot of racing technology and 620hp. And about the weight transportation... it isn't so good for a RWD supercar. I thing it would be better to have the engine in the midle but behind the driver...

what is its weight distribution, 49/51 f/r or something? thats closer to 50/50 than what ive seen from other rear-mid engined supercars. unless they wanted to make something looking like the CLK GTR im sure a rear midship Merc simply wouldnt look like any conventional Merc

the wheels magazine ive got infront of me says different though

quote: wheels, january 04, words by Peter Robinson:

"with the ESP stability control turned off, an injudicious stab at the throttle lights up both rear wheels, and demands correction to keep the SLR straight. Dont even think about disconnecting the ESP on slippery roads, because even with 51 percent of weight over the back wheels, and fantastic traction and chassis balance once above 30km/h, one serious right-foot prod at crawling speed and the driver is looking down the road through the door window"

i wouldnt have quoted the whole paragraph, but i personally thought the last bit was funny

I didn't say that SLR is not so good supercar cause it is close to the top. But do you thing that a so overweight car can defeat Carrera GTs or Le mans quattro. It isn't the experience of merc but it's the luxury!!! For god shake, it is a sportcar with 620hp. We don't give a shit about luxury!!! I believe in race cars like ENZO and Audi Le mans. Ferrari and audi. 0-100:3.6sec, 3.7sec and top speed: 350 km/h, 345 km/h. I love these two cars and I believe that this audi is the most beautifull car I ever seen.

The Audi LeMans Quattro, at least for now, is a concept car. Thus, it shouldn't really be compared to these.

i think MB/mclaren just want the buyers to be buying more than an engine. for the price theyre asking maybe the luxury element is what gets the buyer to seal the deal
