I suppose you could say that, if you want to. You can trace the origins from 156 to 155 to Tipo. However, quite a few notable things were extensively modified along the way.

156/147/GT series is a little bit more than facelifted Fiat Tipo whereas this CLC is a sad case indeed.
But it's not rare to see heavy facelifts being labelled as new models. This is an example, but so is the Stilo/Bravo for instance.

I don't think it's such a problem. Car manufacturers have been done that for years.

It's not the facelift that bothers me.

If W203 Sportcoupe was such a success, why don't they give us a worthy successor - W204 Sportcoupe?

If W203 Sportcoupe was such a flop, then why bother importing facelifted W203 Sportcoupe all the way from Brazil to EU?

Probably for the same reason Ford still makes the Crown Victoria (and derivatives). Costs are low, so margins are high and as such the break even point is low and the car doesn't need to be huge seller in order to turn a profit. And therefore if it gets to this point, which I suppose Daimler must assume it will, it does make sense economically.

Also don't forget that the biggest market in Europe is the C-segment.

So I guess they got rid of the tiny windshield (on the back), updated the looks and called it a day?

    Talk about being lazy.
