It's fairly rare to see pictures from this location as it is strictly forbidden to shoot 'em here.

I really like this one of yours, drakkie. I love the swirls of water in that light.
Somewhat on the side, I think your pictures would be (artistically, if not journalistically) better if they focused in on one element instead of being the macro picture of everything. What I mean by journalistic is you capture everything that is happening at that moment, but nothing in particular draws your eye. In this picture for instance, the intended subject, I'm assuming, is the "Explorer", but there are many things on the periphery that draw focus away from it. The swirls of water, the other vessel, the cranes, etc...

On the other hand, I know jack about photography.
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"

In some of your images it is quite hard to distinguish a real focal.

I like this one though, the composition isn't quite right (to me, all a matter of opinion) but otherwise it looks wonderful.

I think the cranes to the left and right add unnecessary clutter, maybe if there was more zoom or a different crop, something like this? I played with the curves a little too to bring out more detail in the water.

Hope you don't mind me altering your picture. I'll delete it if otherwise.

I think one of the no-no's of a good photograph is splitting the picture horizontally with the horizon. which you've done here. Cropping so theres less sky or less water would give the photo a better feel.

i think his photos always have a very anti-human approach. you almost never see people in them, full of large equipment and placed on a relatively desolate landscape. it makes them interesting, but i agree that it is often difficult to find one subject. though they are composed enough to not look like just a snapshot.

1st of all, if my reply is strange, it's because im pissed drukn.

2nd thanks for all the comments; both the complimentatry ones and those not. it is not easy to get nice pictures in a industrial environment like this and i hope you can see in my shots that I am learning every single day.

I love the port a lot and i want to capture it! In the meantime I am getting a lot of life experience and am becoming rather famous under the hundreds of dock workers (almost every working day somebody recognises me).

3rd of all lack of money for material is what keeps me lagging in progress IMO anyways...

4tth of all...time for more alcolol
