yes. what is the difference between a tropical freshwater tank and just a normal freshwater tank?

There's a kid my age who bought a $10,000 fish tank when he worked at a fish store. He doesn't make much money either. He's also an idiot.

I think buying a $10,000 fish tank proves he's an idiot.

Get some snails, I can't stress this enough. We had a 50 gallon tank at my place, with about 8-10 snails, and I didn't have to clean it once for an entire year. Also bottom feeding catfish and real plants help a lot too, because trust me, hand washing the tank is a bitch. As for fish recommendations, gouramis are really cool looking but can be big assholes, don't pair a gourami with other aggressive fish. It seemed to get along with my tetra and catfish though.

Most good local fish stores have knowledgeable staff who can recommend good community fish, along with aggressiveness ratings for each type.
i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.

not all gouramis are aggressive you know. also like he said something for your glass (snails) is good and some bottom feeding catfish are critical, and look great too. however, dont buy colored gravel for your substrate; this is usualy made of glass and the catfish risk cutting their bristles

I won a goldfish in a School Fete.

I swear to god, I could not kill that thing.

And it wasn't just my parents replacing it, either. we put other fish in the tank with it, it either ate them or drove them to suicide. I kid you not.

We rarely cleaned the tank, fed it commercial grade crap, and more often than not the filter wasn't working.

And yet, somehow, the little bugger survived.
