NYC is in a budget crisis, so they're thinking about tolls on the East River.

Which may or may not happen, because there's the whole issue of logistics and who technically owns the bridges (the city does, but they need a law passed through the state to hand it over to the MTA).
I am highly against it, because the MTA always keeps raising tolls, fares, etc, and the service isn't getting any better. Yes, we are in hard times, but can you find a better way around it? It's always been that the East River bridges were free. I can see lower Manhattan losing a lot of business because people will not go out to Manhattan unless they definitely need to.
Simple enough. For or against?
