The Cadillac Brougham was one of the most expensive models to be produced after the second world war. When presented at the end of 1956 it costs 3 times as much as an ‘ordinary” Sedan DeVille.
It was presented as the pinnacle of luxury, but it featured air suspension as one of its prime technical assets. The double headlights were a first too, soon to be a standard feature of many American cars. Outwardly the cars are also recognisable from a polished steel roof.
The six litre V8 engine produced 330 BHP in 1957 and 310 for the model year 1958. Top speed was in the order of 190 kph. Vintage 1957 was produced 400 times and in 1958 304 examples left the assembly line, making this Cadillac into one of the most sought after of all.
Shown here is an example exhibited at the Sinsheim Museum in Germany.
