Carlin confirm Formula One entry plans
Thought this was interesting to those that followed the F1 idea for relegation etc where it was questioned how a team could manage F1 and GPO2 etc etc.
To confirm the points made, here's one fo hte teams askign fro an F1 entry in 2008.
Carlin currently runs THREE seperate teams, So F1 woudl only be one more and if it needed to be they clearly have the breadth to move GP2 if they wanted.
Maybe these "super teams" ( like ProDrive) across many formulae will be the future for privateers ????

Carlin Motorsport have revealed that they are among the 22 teams that have applied to compete in the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship. Carlin currently race in a number of junior single-seater series, including the British Formula Three and Formula BMW Championships, and the Renault World Series.
According to team boss Trevor Carlin, previously sporting director with Midland’s Formula One squad, the cost-cutting measures proposed by the sport’s governing body would allow his and other teams from lower formulae to make the move into Formula One racing.
"We believe that the introduction of the new initiatives by the FIA in regard to sporting and technical rule changes for the future of Formula 1 have been designed to allow successful junior teams such as Carlin Motorsport to make the previously difficult step up to Formula One,” said Carlin. “The proposed cost reductions should bring the necessary budgets within our reach.
"We are well underway with building an appropriate infrastructure and have firm commitments from key people who are experienced in F1 design, marketing, management and operations. They will join us if our entry is accepted.
"We have also agreed the purchase of an established facility in the south of England, for design and specialist production and a composite facility near our base to handle the major workload.
"We realise that there is considerable competition for the entry and the team's credentials are our success in racing. We are confident that the requisite finance will be available from our existing contacts if the entry is accepted."
Trevor Carlin is no stranger to Formula One racing. As well as his stint at Midland last year, he has helped a number of current drivers find their way into the sport, including Takuma Sato, Anthony Davidson and Narain Karthikeyan.
The FIA will announce the successful 2008 applicants in just over two week’s time on April 28. Others to have applied include ex-BAR boss David Richards’ Prodrive organisation and Paul Stoddart, formerly team principal of Minardi.
