Curious that. Maybe that could be a reason why estates still sell very well in Europe. They don't carry that stigma of utilitarian car for practical purposes, at least not to the extent it does in the US.
We've even got wagons that aren't really practical and that in some cases have smaller boot than their saloon versions. And yet we still buy them, even if we don't have to carry many things around, just because we prefer them. I personally like estates quite a lot.
