    Aston Martin GT-700R 2000

    Aston Martin GT-700R

This V8 GT Race Car was previewed in the paddock at the 2000 AMOC St John Horsfall race meeting. Whilst not a factory development as such, it has been constructed by David Ellis who has been involved in racing Aston Martins for some time. The car sits on a carbonfibre monocoque tub with a steel tubular front subframe and push rod suspension. It is clothed with a Carbonfibre Body loosely based on the 1990's Vantage. The front mounted Aston Martin Virage V8 engine with 4 valves per cylinder and race spec fuel injection is designed to deliver 700 bhp. Weight is an impressively low 850kg.

I've been waiting eight years to see this car on the track. The eventual introduction of the 'Super GT' race within AMC Club Racing has at last allowed the car to compete at the popular club meetings. The pictures below were taken at the 2008 AMOC St.John Horsfall race meeting at Silverstone in June 2008.

Sorry if I cannot express myself correctly, but I don't know English as good as I want, so my answers will probably be the same in many cases.

I saw this at a club race at Mallory Park a while ago. My God it was fast, like nothing else. It started lapping the backrunners after 3 laps and must have been hitting 150 on the back straight. And the track was absolutely soaking wet. Awesome car, I'd take it over any modern Aston.
Buying a car and not driving it is like buying a meal and not eating it.

    "Oh sh*t, we're going..25!!" - A dear friend of mine.
