Hmm, I love a semantics battle. The thread title did just say "American", implying the United States...but leaves enough ambiguity that I think the Canadians have a strong technical argument...

No one ever thinks of Canada. CTD, it is my theory that Denmark is the forgotten large country of Western Europe. Agreed?

Let's rename this thread best Supercar of the Americas!

Unfortunatley we properly are, especially in the Car Industry.
However, my pride forces me to say we are not forgotten, and is VERY important!.
Remember, to some we are the capital of Sweden, living in old Wood houses and Polarbears walk the street! (A danish exchange student has actually been asked about this )

Since we're on the subject, the Saleen S7 was built here but sourced the best parts from around the world to do it. Globalisation makes this hard...

"sourced" chassis designed , developed and initially constructed in the UK

By using quotes jcp I was pointing out that sourced is usually used when referring to buying in a smaller component part that you have designed or selected and outsourced for manufacture.

When you source the large part of a product you cant really claim in for a "nation" ? can you ?

Are HP laptops American ? ( Nope like everyone they go to one of the big guys in asia, give them a requirement and a price and the logo )

Semantics. I didn't know that that much was done outside the United States on the Saleen. But it spoke to my larger point about globalisation. Hard to really give a definitive point of origin for a product nowadays.

    No polar bears?

Damn it! I must have my stereotypes all mixed up...

(Don't worry we don't have Paellas, Sevillanas or Mexican hats either...)

The GT40 is the same story.
One could argue it's more british than American.
