    "Design" a Car

So, if you could design your own car, what would it be?

Well, mine would be sort of Muscle grand Tourer. Sort of like an Aston martin getting it on with a Big Block Chevelle. I love the way that sounds. A modern big block, front mid mounted, taking styling cues from Aston Martin and the classic muscle cars, with a modern suspension layout to boot. Sounds incredible.

My car would be a four-dour supersports stationwagon, just because.

The forum should piece-meal design a car. I think every member should post a part or style, and then have an artist draw the whole thing up. Something tells me it'll look like Homer Simpson's car that he designed in that one episode; ridiculous.

If I was to design a car for my own pleasure, I think it would be a light spaceframe chassis with DFV continuation unit in the middle. Not sure about the body, but I've seen some guy has posted his own drawing at the French forum, somehow resembling Miura. That would fit.

I've done a design... although it isn't very good.

I liked the old Citroen SM very much (there was one in our town for 3 years or so) so i made a more modern version (remember: when I made this design, Citroen hadn't introduced their current design language which is why it has a rather unusual design for a Citroen). The design is a RR-Layout (because i like this) using Citroens V6 unit in turbocharged form. I hope you like it... btw, i don't do such stuff anymore, so don't expect any changes

PS: Sorry for the roofline... i didn't notice it whe i drew it

A Ferrari California with the back of the 599 GTB and a canvas soft top, with a full "Scuderia" treatment. And doors that work like the Aston Martin DBS.

Second choice: a Porsche 911 GT3 roadster with styling cues more like a 1957 Speedster than the 1989 Speedster.

Front engined, rear wheel drive two seater berlinetta, with a normally aspirated straight six and a six speed manual gearbox.

Combining speed and comfort and capable of covering large distances in little time.

    That sounds rather nice.

    4 litre engine, 360bhp.

Weight? Between 1200 and 1300kg I'd be happy.

A C6 Estate would do nicely.

A new Aston Martin, either the DB9 replacement, or an Aston hyper car, not like that One-77 GT car.

Here's 2 I've done in the past XD

For all of the cars i'd want to make there's allways one of my favourite, a small Key car, 1.2T ~100hp engine in the midle, 2 seater coupe. around 800-900kgs would be nice.

Basically a BMW E30 built with today's technology. Simple RWD layout, insanely high-revving 4 or 6-cylinder engine, low curb weight, relatively affordable, and insanely fun to drive.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

I would want a supercar that was like the type of car you drew in the back of your maths book. Extremely wide, mid-engined, lots of sprouty out vents, gigantic wings, scissor doors, no rear visibility at all, no practicality, pop up headlamps, an epic name, a nice noise, very uncomfortable, a daftly designed interior and have it in a range of mad and vibrant colours, in fact very similar to the supercars of the late 80's to the early 90's.

Technically speaking, I would want to power it with a lightly modified 590 BHP 5.2 litre Gallardo V10 with a Ford GT gearbox nailed to the back of it, a stretched out Lotus Exige chassis, chopper gun fibreglass bodywork (none of that neo-age carbon-fibre stuff), Pirelli P-Zero tyres, Brembo brakes, rear-wheel drive, no ABS, TC or launch control and a kerbweight of about 1190kg. And I want it to look like a speedboat. From space.

That is a pretty awesome description.
