    2009 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction

Another year, another huge profit for B-J. Jalopnik has the top 8 highest priced selling cars here. Top 8 sellin gof the first 3 days that is.

    I shall summarise:

    8. 1974 Pontiac Trans Am $73,700
    7. 2007 Chevrolet Silverado "Dale Earnhardt Jr. Big Red" SEMA Concept $88,000
    6. 2006 Pontiac GTO RA6 Custom $93,500
    5. 1989 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 $110,000
    4. 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo "Intimidator" Show Car $148,500
    3. 1990 Chevrolet Corvette "Active" ZR-1 Prototype $150,700
    2. 1989 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 "Snake Skinner" $176,000
    1. 1923 Oldsmobile Custom Touring Roadster $220,000

The ZR-1s are cashing in on the new ZR1 I think. GM is also offloading many of their collection, I think they call it their Heritage Collection.

What confused me was the Snake Skinner's LT5 having 475 hp - a typo I assume because I think the LT5 rocked 375 horsies. I want to know how much weight reduction was done on this car but this is a car I'd really like to drive methinks - a shame it is so ugly.

So this is a thread to talk all about B-J (but not BJs). I dunno if there is really anything super-sick being sold this year like the Super Snake last year but maybe someone else will know. The first 5th Gen Camaro will be sold, along with the first 2010 Shelby Mustang GT500 and a Mustang Cobra jet whatever that is. As usual, American-centric on the car front - I'd prefer to see more European metal as opposed to a parade of Detroit Iron but I guess you can't always get what you want.

Those ZR-1s are pretty special. One has the active suspension.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

No doubt that active suspension would be pretty cool. When I said the ZR-1s were trying to cash in, I was more referring to the other "plain Jane" ZR-1's being sold trying to cash in on the name I'd guess - these two are as well but to a smaller extent potentially due to their storied heritage. On coverage though, I have seen several ZR-1s go and at least one was plain whereas during any other year I can't recall seeing any.
