    2010 Ford Taurus

The Ford Taurus redesign is here and the short-lived fifth gen and failed five hundred are gone.

Price will be the same as the 2009 model at $29,995 USD. Not much detail on the mechanicals at this point but I will give you 6 pretty pictures and you can see more here.

I am not decided on the design at current but I am digging the first high angle front end shot quite a lot.

Definately an improvement styling-wise though it does look a bit too fat.
Edit: Read Post #4, it explains why the following is irrelevant.
$30K does seem a bit much. Would $25K be too far inside Fusion territory?

Huge improvement, I think it's brilliant. Fat or not, this is a Taurus and it's made for American road-crusing, not mountain carving. Then again, I'm sure the suspension and chassis will be competent.

Gee it does look 'tubby' and rather boring, although its probably quite well engineered for what it is. Considering the limited aspirations of its home market I can imagine it earning the valid consideration of non-enthusiast buyers. I suppose Ford-NA really does need a 'safe bet' around about now. Nevertheless from both a design & aesthetic pov it appears as just another entirely bland 'Formula USA' fwd-auto family sedan

    Thanks for sharing the pics

I find the front fascia very 'Mondeo' European and even get the Ford Australia vibe of the FPV cars.

Bang on the Euro thing, but dunno about FPV.

What happened to the "Mach 3" Ford grille? It's gone from their newest cars and the Fiesta doesn't have it when they ship it over. They've got the Euro design creeping over in this new Taurus but still retain that three bar thing on the F-150, Edge, and Flex. I like the family look and though the Mach 3 look was kinda cool but now it's all gone to crap I guess. Oh well. Anyone remember what Ford called that design? I seem to remember Kinetic or something but maybe that's something else.

FPV GTE. Shares a good bit of resemblance.

    Kinetic is Ford Euro.
With more Euro Fords coming over I guess they've realized they cannot maintain consistency.
On a side not: I remember somebody (I think C&D) joking that the close releases of the Gillette Fusion razor and the Ford Fusion could not be a coincidence. lol

    Not to my eyes, no

And Taurus' overly thick side panelling, its disproportionally raised beltline and minimalist glasshouse deliniate it as belonging to the ever more typical genre of 'US-armoured car' urban paranoia - as compared to the modest litheness & proportional balance between bodyside lower, upper and length, still retained in Falcon FG imo

From my bare knowledge of OZ cars, isn't the FG considered more of a sport-saloon than a lazy old cruiser a la Taurus?

Maybe the XR or FPV models, but the normal ones (just like the Taurus in America and the Mondeo in Europe) are considered family cars, I'd say.

It strangely looks like an overweight stepchild between some sort of Audi and a Subaru. With the lower grill of an Aston.
