It's people like you that don't care about cluttering the board; I could deal with it, but think about this I'M ON DIAL-UP CONNECTION.

Thank's for slowing the board down...

That's not a simple solution, and from your post I can see you don't know what you are talking about. Broadband isn't a connection floex itself, there is cable broadband and DSL broadband. I'm assuming your momy and dady pay for it...

DSL broadband is only available at my house from one telephone company, which charge ridiculous amounts. Cable broadband has just recently become a "practical access"; my area has had it for a while, but the connection was very poor at the beginning, and it was $80 a month.

I did just order Cable broadband, since Comcast moved in to my area, and they are getting mostly good reviews. This still isn't a point, picture signatures are simply stupid.

agreed, picture sigs are unneccesary and annoying. YES i know what im talking about. I WORK in IT. and yes my mum and dad pay for it cause i pay them for the priveledge. Cable broadband isnt available in my area. ADSL is. which is what i use.

note the "/" in my previous post suggesting that there is a difference?

    BACK TO THE SUBJECT!

Picture Signiatures i am totally against, you will end up with people writing one word, covering around 1/8 of a page. Pointless.

Although Karrmanns new effort is nearly as annoying......

long signature don't bother me too much, picture sigs do, and it seems this annoys others as well, because we don't have them. what really annoys me is members that do 150 posts a day. you can't tell me that they are all quality....

Am I alone on this one?

Big signatures really just get ignored. Represent yourself in the post not the sig!

I have changed the layout of the message listing, I'm going to fool around with it a bit. This should use the space more effectively.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

Did you check out the MacNN forums ? Would it be possible to design something lightweight like that ? The current (out of the box?) design is just too bloated and wastes sooo much space. And a simple streamlined look would benefit users without broadband and slower rendering browsers. Just a thought.

I would also get rid of the avatars. A small pic in the sig looks alot better IMO. And no animation in sigs. I know that's maybe too much too ask but it would benefit everybody and make the forum nicer to browse.

The problem with the horizontal avatar space is that when you skim the forum you think those are quotes (they have the same background colour).

vBulletin uses tabel directoves to build the 'shape' of the threads.
So it doesn't take any more to fill out one shape over another.

The removal of avatars helps, but with any browser cache that should be zero.

    Well described user-experience.
