I see a ragtop Mustang isn't on the radar, although there was a time when pony cars used to be the traditional hot choice for cheap 4-seat convertibles

The 4cyl narrow-body version of Mazda6 has a good rep hereabouts as a well-made & good handling sporty sedan, and consequently enjoys solid sales too. Provided for no reason really other than I can is this drive-test of the narrow-body diesel variant

But I don't think he has the diesel available...

    Try:
    BMW 328i
    Audi A4 2.0T
    Saab 9-3 2.0T
    VW EOS 3.2
    Volvo C70 T5

In order of first to last in C&D's comparison.

As an owner of the Mazdaspeed 6, I love it. But you dont want it. I did test drive a regular six and the styling is nice but I dont recomend the manual. Definetly get an automatic. The manual in the regular six was mooshy, unresponsive and just had an overall bad feel to it. If you wanna know more about my road test just ask

Only in Australia could you descibe an engine as "bonzer." You're abit short changed for diesels down there, japanese diesels aren't the best. But that Mazda should have a ford engine in it so it'll be better.

It's the engine co-developped by PSA and Ford, or an older Ford unit?

I'd imagine it's the 2.0 TDCi found in the Mondeo and Focus, but I'm not sure about it's placement with Peugeot.

If you mean the old Mondeo, the one that's just been replaced and the current Mk2 Focus, the don't have the same 2-litre diesel. The Focus one is the unit co-developped with PSA.
