    The Audi RS4 is back.

New Audi RS4 sports saloon spy shots

Some spy shots of the new Audi RS4, i'm so glad that the RS4 is back.

The new car’s details are not known at present outside of Ingolstadt, but we can take an educated guess as to what drivetrain might lurk behind the S4 badged mule. The 21in RS5 wheels, wider track and larger front intakes are a give away as to this being something a little more than it is letting on…

Whether the production car will feature the RS5’s engine, a 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 with 444bhp, or the smaller capacity 3-litre supercharged V6 from the S4 with the wick turned up, is yet to be seen. It should boast a four-wheel-drive quattro drivetrain and twin-cltuch S Tronic gearbox, though.

It will have to compete on pace with its talented German compatriots, BMW’s 414bhp M3 and Mercedes’ 457bhp C63 AMG. A pricetag north of £52,000 is likely, aiming it squarely at the competition. There will be saloon and estate variants, the latter ‘Avant’ photographed here.

I´m glad to see the RS4 back. I couldn´t understand how Audi was going to keep competing with the M3 and C63 AMG.

Now, if they only made the RS3 in a two door version....

Looking at the pics in the link, the size of the brake disc vs the wheel is pretty telling....the discs are likely 15"/16" max, There are plenty of clearance to the wheels...

Thats 18" with 14.4" disc....the new one looks way bigger...

If those are 15" brakes...looks like 19" rims.

Love it, may be tempted by the C63 though if I had the money. For whatever reason (and I know this makes no sense) the M3 has never done anything for me.

I agree, i'm glad the the RS4 is back. Although if it was my money i would buy the C63 AMG, i don't know why but it looks more fun.

The thing i find stupid is that the next A3 may not be a hatch, what are Audi playing at.

Next A3 will likely be both, to cater for some markets prefering small sedans over hatchbacks.

I too have heard it will come in hatchback version also. My gripe is not having a two door version of the RS3
