No, I understand the obvious lineage between the X-range.

But if all they are going to do is make them progressively uglier as they get smaller they're just going to end up annoying everyone on the road who has to look at them.

I mean, Chris Bangle was bonkers but he at least had a vision, Van Hooydonk is just murdering BMW Design.

Not even the wheels are pretty. and thats just a BMW staple.

I agree. Except the Bangle's BMW were fugly too.

The only BMW which could be considered an improvement over the old one (or at least as good) is the 3er Coupé. All the others are fugly tryhards.

Please, please BMW you don't need to be striking. You have your strenghts. Being striking isn't one of them.

I think it should be ugly.. it's going to be primarily driven by utter cocks, so having it avert my gaze is a good thing...

Eww. Yucky. I didn't even bother to open the thumbnails.

Seriously, SUVs may have been profitable three years ago, but it's time to move on.

Never said they weren't fugly, but at least they had some rhyme and reason to them. They were designed primarily to create talking points.

Now, it's just one sad reproduction of something that didn't really work the first time over & over again.

I don't like either (3 Series I mean), the rear part is too little compared to the whole part.
But, yeah, all BMW arent as specials as the older ones used to be. I still prefer the old M5, or the old 7 Series, 8 Series Z£ Coupè and so on.

Trying to be an all things to all people BMW in every garage marketing machine sort of like what ruined Mercedes in the US.

I think when Lexus and Infiniti came along it scared the crap out of them and they haven't been the same since. They should have kept their niche instead of following the Pied Piper.

Maybe they can turn it around before it's too late and get their soul back.
    Interesting thought.

I believe that it is a nice design that only needs some time to get used to it. However I cant see why they need both x3 and x1 as the difference in size is almost nothing. Maybe they will make a slightly bigger x3 in the future. Well, it is a nice car as I said but audi q5 is a serious competitor. Only if the bmw x1 is cheap it will have to power to gain sales

I can't decide whether BMW's rear lights are starting to look like Audi's, or whether Audi's rear lights are starting to look like BMW's...

As non-pretty as I find this car right now, I still find the X3 uglier. I guess they're improving.

A BMW SUV I understand. BMW does make some very nice cars, but they public opinion is that they're oriented to a very pretentious audience. Luxury SUVs are right up that market's alley.

A performance SUV, I do not understand.

Exactly, except the old 3 coupe was discreetly awesome imo.
