    toyota cleared

Results of the inspection of 58 cases of accidents with Toyotas reveiled that in none of the cases a technical malfunctioning of the brakes was at stake.
Being in the US at the moment, I can relate to the view driver errors are far more to blame, so Toyota, sue them......

Then why did they called all the the cars back...if that was not the fault of there faulty brakes...now honda has called its models from 2006 to 2008 for some minor fix. Seems like a trend has started to call the cars back and show that how great as a company we are?

they recalled the cars, because the damage had already been done thanks to the public opinion which had to be soothed. Doing nothing at the time could have hit them even harder. There is little else a manufacturer can do during a real hoax.

They added some added safety measure, like throttle override to the brake input. But the car as it was was not at fault, its just now that it will be mechanically(and electronically) impossible to do.

They just did all that they can do so that it can't actually happen, and so in the future the blame will be place squarely on what actually cause(and caused) the accident: the driver.

They also agreed to pay a $16 million fine. (For "nothing?")

I was wondering why someone would sign up to revive a dead thread to post such a pointless statement. Then I saw you signature line. It all makes sense now...

    SPAM!

Either you are hoping we'll follow you link or you're doing this to improve you google ranking. Anyway, thanks for the spam. Since it's not your signature line but actually part of your post it's clearly spam. BTW, I edited your link. I don't want to help out

    Acknowledging spam makes it stronger.

Also, This reminds me of the Audi "Unintended acceleration" Claim back in the 1980's that I read about (by no means an expert). Customer claimed car caused tragedy, Reputation of car company sullied, News organisations fake tests to ensure result, authorities determine car company not at fault, Car company reputation wrecked for years.

My guess; the Koreans had something to do with it. Suddenly Hyundai is an acceptable substitute for Toyota?

    Two things:
    1) Reporting spam is a good thing.
    2) Editing quotes is a Bannable offense.
