Pele vs Maradona

As ironic as it may sound my International Business class is full of international students (About 40% of the class in a 20 people classroom ) Among those there is one Argentinean girl and one Brazilian guy…

I don’t know why but soccer became a topic in some guys’ discussion and suddenly the word "Maradona" came up. As soon as the Argentinean girl heard it she replied “Yep, he’s the best soccer player ever” …. The Brazilian guy heard it, he heard what it was forbidden for his ears and quickly replied “EXCUSE ME!!???” And then the discussion started on whether Maradona was better than Pele and vice versa.

I know there are many good players out there including Franz Beckenbauer (My favorite), Ronaldo, Beckham, Zidane, Niko_Fx, Davids, etc.. (Please don’t get mad at me for not mentioning all of them)… But let’s just keep it as simple as Maradona and Pele in the poll.

For those of you who are too young to remember Maradona’s performance in 86 (About 80% of UCP) and Pele’s performance in 58, 62, 66 and 70 (About 95% of UCP) go and download some videos, you’ll be amazed on how good they were.

NOTE: British people, I know you have some rivalry with Argentina, but be fair

Im not really sure, soccer was never an interesting sport for me, anything that averages 2 points a game isnt worth watching in my book. im not voting but from that vid maradona looks pretty good. wasnt he like dead recently from drugs or something? i vaguely remember his name from the news like 6 months ago...

Maradona for sure. Pele played at a time when football wasnt so developped, so naturally a player like him had to stand out. On the other hand, when Maradona played, football was way more developped and had way more ppl playing it. Maradona carried Argentina, they won because he played on their team. He could score goals alone, not needing a team supporting him. So i vote for Maradona.
