Fleet, the frequency difference is down to standardisation.
-3db roll-off points and ripple limits along with distortion limits mean different results.

Wow, I would hang on to those if I were you. Just for the value (rarity) and for nostalgic reasons.
I remember hearing about the Pioneer brand back in the '70s. They were always well regarded.
'76 Cadillac Fleetwood Seventy-Five Limousine, '95 Lincoln Town Car.
Vacuum Dynakit Stereo 70 with old old JBL (and dead) speakers. Replaced with ones from Polk, but dad isn't so happy with them. So we'll just have to see.
Plus the HD setup downstairs with a Yamaha RXV-2600 reciever, I think. My dad is nuts, he put a 6.1 system I think. Big JBL woofer. I'll take a pic when I get a chance.
I've got the Bose Companion 5 speakers for my computer, and a JVC 625 watt 5.1 system on the theatre; however it's my headphones that I take a little more seriously. Just picked up a pair of Grado Labs SR80i headphones, and I must say that they're brilliant. Without getting up into the $200 and up range, Grado makes the best headphones you'll hear. I also have a pair of wireless Sennheiser's, however they've died on me.
i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.
I like bass at it's tightest.
Comes from live music background.
Speakers get huge distortion in the lower end if pushing lots and lots of air and equally amplifier harmonic distortion increase at high levels at lower frequencies.
"Balanced" is how I would describe my preference.
Loud as well though
Ultimate "bass" was at a Kraftwerk concert in the 80s.
As "Autobahn" swpet from left to right the whole torso cavity violently vibrated in tune with the low frequencies
MANY folsk were ill and moved away from the sweet spot near the front.
SOme of us moved nearer to it !
