Why do they make front wheel drive cars? They understeer and the tires wears out faster.
Understeer is easier to counter, most people automaticly lift the gas and hit the brakes when they slide. And rwd can be quite useless in the snow sometimes. Fwd also offers more interior space at the back.

In the real world performance is not what sells cars. Front wheel drive offer superior interior space over rear wheel drive cars of the same size. This makes it the ideal configuration for passenger cars. Rear wheel drive makes little sense for every day driving and in less than ideal circumstances front wheel drive is superior to rear wheel drive.Originally Posted by Merrill

You should remove the Renault Clio from your signature then. That car is living proof that front wheel drive can provide superior handling.Originally Posted by SPN:DOC
