    Audi 4000 Quatro S (1984) - Y/N?

I thought I would check in to see whether anybody thinks this car would or wouldn't be a good buy. I don't know much about this model/year at all, so if there are any red flags that go up in your head about it please tell.

Basically the list of problems with it (as told by the owner) are:

    -Door handles are broken
    -Passenger window doesnt roll down
-Valve cover gasket should be replaced
-Doesnt run too hot, but the thermostat doesnt work
    -Speedometer doesnt work lol

I've fixed all of those on friend's cars before other than the gasket and they dont sound too costly or difficult, so it would be worth it for me.

The car is for sale at $1500 by owner, ill attach the pictures on the add as well.

    What do you think?

The speedometer issue is a really stupid thing, but it's an easy fix, just look on various Audi forums.

Window probably is just off the track.

My take is if you are willing to take care of the issues and take care of the car, then I can't see why not.

I'd say offer him $1000-$1200 cash and see if he bites.

don't know how much used cars cost there, but here more than 1.000 € for that car isn't a deal at all, regardless of the car's conditions.
it's 25 years old after all. how many miles does it have?
still if you like it and the deal it's good for you, go for it. even if I don't know much about it.

Offer around 1000 or less, I wouldn't pay that much for it because it needs a lot of work.

^ Agreed, in repairs alone you might spend $1500. Remember that these cars are rattle traps, especially at this age.

I also agree that paying over 1000 would be a bad choice. I think you could do better for that money to be honest.

Even here where second hand car are moderately expensive, 1500 for an old 80 Quattro sounds like a lot, especially in that condition.

Halve the asking price & it might be considerable.
