I think it'd be a shame for you to sell your cars as they are awesome. How long are you going to be in Japan for?

If your willing to throw down some bucks buy an R34 GTR, but honestly im not 100% that they're cheap enough to count as disposable. Would you qualify to bring it back to the US with you?

You're going to Japan? This is an opportunity to buy something truly bizarre, and should not be passed up.
The first that come to my mind:
- Toyota Cavalier (the Chevrolet Cavalier rebadged for the Japanese market)
- Chevrolet MW (demonstrate your American pride with a rebadged Suzuki Wagon R) (pictured)
- any Mitsuoka
- Daihatsu Naked ("That's right, ladies, I'm in my Naked")
- Subaru Sambar Dias Classic (pictured)
Or just go on Wikipedia and start looking at the various Japanese manufacturers' pages and start clicking on any model name you've never heard of. You're bound to find something. For example, [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Templateaihatsu"]Daihatsu[/ame].

My favorite color is chrome.
You should just buy a cool japanese car instead of these little homo-erotic toy cars that people are suggesting.

Mazda Roadster(MX5/Miata) I think might be the go. Preferably the Coupe version (NB)

but they're a dime a dozen in the states reg! out of all people i'd expect you to come up with something a bit more interesting than that.
I'm actually planning on buying one as my next car, finances pending.
And they're ubiquitous because they're good. However an Autozam AZ-1 or Honda Beat will also suffice. Mrs. McBain-Key might have something to say though.

Beat is a great wee car. Mate had one for years till he tore a rear wheel off on a back road A car to put a smile on your face
How about an RX-8 Yeah, I know a bit big and fuel hungry

i love the suggestions that you all have. and the rx-8 and miata are out. i don't much like the rx-8 as is, and if i get a rotary it will be a 20b cosmo.
wwgkd, i may end up in europe. but i havent had much luck in picking where i have gone, so who knows when/if i will get there. but i want to.
nsx-r, i am likely selling this house, so my official residence will remain florida, which would probably make it easier to import a skyline or something like that, since florida's vehicle laws are similar to britains.
when i get orders in a few months i will probably have a better idea on what's going to happen. until that point i may be scarce here, i am busy writing a thesis so i can graduate in december.

I have heard good things about the Toyota Corolla.
I used one in driving school so you could probably still drive it from the left seat, which apparently gives you massive street cred in Nipland.
